India has emerged as the world’s fastest-growing major economy and is on the path to becoming one of the top three economies over the next decade. Germany is India’s most significant and reliable partner internationally and also India’s largest trade partner in Europe with a turnover of about Euro 22 billion. There is a vast scope for investment by German companies in India and vice-versa.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also emphasized the priority of attracting foreign direct investment and continued efforts of the Government of India to liberalize the regulatory environment and improve the ease of doing business. In all of the Indo-German summits the most important outcome was the setting up of a high-level dialogue on trade and investment relations, which will discuss all trade and market issues, as well as supply chain linkages.
