The German-Indian Business Society (GIBS) is a premier bilateral initiative dedicated to fostering high-level dialogue, strategic networking, and sustainable economic collaboration between Germany and India. Earlier, GIBS was known as the German Indian Business Summit.

Initiated and founded by Dr Rajesh Mishra and co-founded by Dr Shazia Wülbers, GIBS has established a vital bridge connecting professionals, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to drive cross-border innovation and mutual growth.

Our Mission

We are committed to creating a dynamic ecosystem where stakeholders from both nations can exchange knowledge, explore trade opportunities, and collectively address the challenges of a globalised economy. Our core objectives are:

  • Fostering Bilateral Collaboration: Facilitating market access for German businesses in India and supporting Indian enterprises in establishing a foothold in Europe.
  • Knowledge & Expertise Exchange: Curating discussions on industry trends, digital transformation, and sustainable practices.
  • Empowering SMEs and Startups: Providing a dedicated stage for the German “Mittelstand” and Indian innovators to showcase their capabilities and forge international partnerships.
  • Recognising Excellence: A key aim of GIBS is to appreciate and honour the individuals and organisations whose dedicated work strengthens the relationship between Germany and India.
  • Strengthening Cultural Ties: Building a foundation of professional trust and cross-cultural understanding is essential for long-term cooperation.

A Collaborative Ecosystem

GIBS is a joint initiative that leverages the expertise of key institutional partners, including:

  • Consulate General of India, Hamburg
  • Hochschule Bremen (HSB)
  • GINCO – Global Indian Network Community (an initiative of Shaktya e.V.)
  • Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ports and Transformation, Bremen

Our Focus

Each year, the Summit addresses critical themes shaping the future of international business. From the impact of AI on sustainable technology and navigating the skilled labor shortage (Fachkräftemangel) to advancing the “Make in India” initiative for the Mittelstand (MIIM), GIBS ensures discussions are realistic, actionable, and forward-thinking.

As an initiative open to all of Germany, we take pride in connecting nationwide business hubs with one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies. Whether through our annual flagship summit or focused regional workshops, GIBS is where German precision meets Indian dynamism.

Connecting Communities. Driving Innovation. Building the Future.
